Fluid power can generate tremendous forces and motions that simulate the power of an earthquake, but on a scale that you can control in a testing laboratory. A giant table is supported by a number of hydraulic actuators that can shake the table in all six degrees of freedom, all three translations and all three rotations, fully simulating the actual motions of an earthquake.
