Toolkit User Instructions and Tips


Excel 2003 and all Prior Excel Versions Users:

To transfer graphs from the Toolkit to other applications:

  • Select graph in Toolkit and Copy.
  • Open the file you wish to transfer the graph to.
  • Select Edit.
  • Select Paste Special.
  • Select Picture (enhanced metafile) or Picture.

Altering the Toolkit screen view (zoom in & out):

  • If the information for a particular analysis section of the Toolkit doesn't quite fit on your screen, try altering the "zoom" value.
  • Select View.
  • Select Zoom.
  • Choose or enter your desired percentage.

Entering and using company specific product data:
Company specific product data that you typically submit to the NFPA’s CSS program.

  • Select data series and Copy.
  • Open companydata.xls.
  • It should open to the Standard_Data tab.
  • Paste the data in the appropriate cells (data can be manually typed into each cell).
  • Enter the date of your most recent data point throughout the file in cell C8.
  • Save and Close.
  • Remember to Update Data when you open the Toolkit.

Entering and using custom data sources:
Leading indicators, market drivers, customer markets, product data not currently captured in the Toolkit. You can enter and use any custom data source in the toolkit.

  • Select data series and Copy.
  • Open companydata.xls.
  • Go to the Custom_Driver_Data tab at the bottom of the screen.
  • Paste the data in the appropriate cells (data can be manually typed into each cell).
  • Rename the Product Group by simply typing over the name.
  • Go to the Standard_Data tab and enter the date of your most recent data point throughout the file in cell C8.
  • Save and Close.
  • Remember to Update Data when you open the Toolkit.
